Dear Colleagues;
I write to you today concerning the Memorial Stone erected and maintained by the Hudson County Bar Foundation. This Stone was erected in 2010 to honor deceased members of our profession. It was the culmination of years of effort by the late Frank Addas, Esq. to recognize and honor our late colleagues. Frank worked with the Honorable Mary K. Costello to design the memorial and to insure that all the names were included. This was truly a passion project for him. I remember meeting him on a cold wet day outside the Courthouse at 7 a.m. He was waiting for the memorial to be delivered and would not go inside until it was in the doorway. We were so lucky to have his commitment to this project.
The Memorial was dedicated on September 27, 2010. The ceremony was one of the most moving events that we have hosted. The ensuing 12 ceremonies have continued to be a time for members of the Hudson County Bench and Bar to come together to honor their own. The Hudson County Bar embodies everything that is right with lawyers. They work tirelessly for their clients, mentor young lawyers and are always convivial with other attorneys, even when adversaries.
The adversities of the last few years have also greatly affected our members. We have lost members to the pandemic, age and other illnesses. The Memorial stone is now full and no more names can be added. We would like to erect a new stone to continue to honor our deceased members of the Bar and Bench. The cost of the new stone, engraving and maintenance is very expensive. We have decided to reach out to the Bar for contributions to continue the work of Frank Addas. We are seeking donations of any amount to assist with the purchase.

We thank you for your consideration of this effort.
